- The Memorymatic mattress is hand tufted mattress. Tufts are inserted through the mattress from top to bottom vertically to hold pocket spring units and fillings in shape. This is especially important with adjustable beds as a rod edge cannot be used to hold the sides of the pocket spring unit together. Tufting can create a firmer surface to the mattress than quilting.
